The Public Officers' Welfare Council (POWC) was set up under Act No. 28 of 1992

           Objectives of the Council are to:

           1)   Organise recreational and cultural activities for public officers;

           2)   Enlist the participation of public officers in the implementation of activities of Public Officers' Welfare Council;

           3)   Promote the welfare of public officers and maintain effective communication with departmental Staff Welfare Associations;

           4)   Diffuse information on public service matters generally;

           5)   Set up and operate schemes or projects for the benefit of public officers and their families; and

           6)   Advise the Minister on matters relating to the welfare of public officers.
